Best Summertime East End Patios
Now that patio season is upon us, check out our team’s favourite spots to soak up the sun and quench their thirst on a hot summer day!
We know this is an obvious one but we just can’t get over the incredible panoramic downtown views from the rooftop patio. They also offer an indoor terrace for those who crave shelter from the sun! Originally built in 1891, the hotel has become a landmark for social gatherings popularized by the sophisticated lounge atmosphere, and an expansive cocktail menu.

Chula opened last summer and word spread FAST! Their two patio levels and three tiki tequila bars have been packed ever since. Make sure you sample their signature chipotle pineapple mezcal margarita and take in all of the amazing artwork by Luis Rojas, Jesus Mora, and Cesar Correa. We also recommend the Mexican cantina inspired food like the softshell crab tacos!

East enders have been enjoying Tabule’s middle eastern cuisine for a while now and it gets even better on their spacious, vibrant backyard patio. We love their exotic cocktail menu with no less than four different original mojito creations. The hallüm salad is a team favourite, and be sure to take advantage of their BYOB no corkage fee on Mondays and Tuesdays.

If you’re looking for a little bit of Paris and sophistication in the east end, look no further than the newly opened patio of modern French brasserie, Gare de L’Est. Be sure to enjoy our personal favourite, the Pâté de Campagne, and take advantage of their location by soaking up the atmosphere before you head into a show at the Crow Theatre…but not before you have dessert!

Maybe we’re biased since their patio is RIGHT next door to our new office but we love the awesome staff and owners who are always so accommodating. The new menu has pub classics but some fresh options as well. The elevated patio is a great spot for people watching, and offers some much needed shade on those sweltering hot days.

If you’re a Beacher, chances are you’ve already enjoyed the famous orecchiette on their patio. This is where locals enjoy amazing food and a wonderful wine list. The eclectic menu offers something for everyone and you’re more than likely to run into someone you know…if you’re not already chatting with the incredibly friendly staff and owners, that is!

As they say at the Rorschach Brewing Co., “beer, just like food, is a personal experience; no two people’s tastes are exactly the same.” Make your own interpretation of their home brews on their rooftop patio where they grow their own herbs, vegetables, and flowers for their brewery & menu. Don’t forget to check their site for great events like the Beer and Cheese Pairing!

This pick is found in the Distillery District but a regular favourite for us. Their beautiful heated patio can be enjoyed long after the sun goes down, after you attempt to make your way through the 120 different labels of Canada’s largest mescal and tequila bar. Prepare yourself for a wait but don’t worry…their pitcher of margaritas is well worth it.
