5 Alternatives to Valentine’s Day
For many, Valentine’s Day has become yet another commercialized holiday bent at getting us to spend money. That’s not to say it can’t still be celebrated in a romantic way but we thought we’d feature 5 alternative ways to celebrate with your loved one, family and even friends.
Skate your love away
Forget the cramped restaurant full of awkward dates. Take advantage of the incredible party atmosphere on ice at Harbourfront Center Rink!
As seen in Toronto Life “The Natrel Rink at Harbourfront is our favourite because it’s a full-on party. Eight Saturday nights in a row, from January 3 onward, the city’s best DJs take over the sound system and the rink becomes an open-air nightclub. To the south is the pitch-black lake, to the north the twinkling lights of the downtown’s towers. People dress up in vintage mink stoles and crazy-coloured tights and open puffy coats, bouncing, boogying and shimmying as their skating prowess allows, and taking breaks at one of the flaming fire pits around the rink’s perimeter. Free ($8 for skate rental). 235 Queens Quay W., harbourfrontcentre.com.”>Toronto Life”…
Binge Watch Something Completely Unromantic
If you’re really not in the mood for Valentine’s Day, nothing will keep in you there like a marathon session of Walking Dead (one of the world’s most popular shows according to IMDb!). Same goes for viewing of great sci-fi movies like Snowpiercer, Interstellar or Insurgent.
Cook with Friends
Do a massive potluck with your buddies and pick a theme of the most unromantic food you can possibly create.
Ribs and wings don’t exactly inspire romance and neither does anything incredibly spicy 🙂 We’re pretty sure poutine is right up there too.

Host a Games Night
Invite friends over for a games night – bring your favourite…Cards Against Humanity, Heads Up or maybe some good old fashioned Twister! The classic Operation or Jenga definitely get more interesting after a few glasses of wine.
Do something totally childish
You know all those things that you wish you could do that kids get to do? Well grownups can too. Book a sessions at the trampoline park SkyZone, go to Fallsview waterslide park in Niagara Falls, or defy the laws of gravity at iFLY.
If all that fails, you can check dream about your next house and search listings here 🙂
