2015 Best Home Design Trends
2015 is the year to let your personal style shine through each room in your house, including your kitchen and bathroom! We are no longer leaving the kitchen and bath as the sterile white cabinet rooms of years past. Paint the cabinets, order your favourite tile you have been dying to install. Add that piece of art that you picked up on your travels. Consider the pieces that you are bringing into the room, do they add something to this.

Home Design Trends for 2015
Fusion: Mixing Culture, mixing styles
Don’t be afraid to mix it up – those treasures you found while travelling always have a place in your home. And mixing styles brings depth, dimension and personality to your home.
Benjamin Moore’s colour of the year: GUILFORD GREEN HC 116
Get ready to feel soothed. This colour will make you feel refreshed and light. Don’t want to commit by painting the entire house? Try bringing in elements with accessories.
Metallic Accents: Gold & Copper
Although gold and copper are not new trends, they are still hot. They instantly add a touch of luxury and glamour to a room. The options for lighting are endless and if you’re really ready to embrace this design element, consider updating your kitchen or bathrooms with gold or copper hardware and faucets.
Organics: botany, sculptural wood, and neutrals
They say every home should have at least one plant in it. If not for the air quality, then to bring nature inside. A plain room can instantly become interesting or get an easy colour pop with one simple plant or one bouquet of flowers. A room will also be instantly warmed up by touches of wood. There are great options for chairs and stools with beautiful lines and gorgeous woods.
Geometric: making the ordinary, unordinary
We LOVE this trend – and you can see it in so many design elements. It’s a great contrast for softer furniture and soft textures.
Pantone Colour of the year: Marsala
Maybe it’s the Game of Thrones coming through but the this rich colour speaks back to some great gothic tones and more dramatic times. Velvet is definitely the fabric of choice for this colour!
Kitchens: An extension of the living space
As the open concept layout appears here to stay, we’re seeing kitchens become more and more integrated with design considerations such as open shelving or no shelving at all, gorgeous hardware and stunning range hoods. Lighting is also making big statement in kitchens
Bathrooms: Neutrals; Organic Textures, Lighting Focus
With bathrooms becoming more and more of a retreat, colours and lighting are following suit. Wood textures and soft lighting are only adding to that sense of relaxation.
